Degree description
In the Bachelor of Arts program in performance and movement, you refine your skills in a community of versatile performers. You gain practical, current industry knowledge in both dance and theater that prepares you for professional careers. Most importantly, the program provides you with the opportunity to grow as an artist and leader while you do what you love.
You choose one of three focus areas:
Dance and theater: You blend movement, acting, voice and storytelling. Whether you're a dancer wanting to act, an actor wanting to move, or a writer or director looking to bring ideas to life, this focus area provides the tools to create bold, original performances and collaborate across disciplines.
Social and partnership dance: You turn your love of dance into leadership. You explore Afro-Latin and ballroom styles, learn how to teach and perform, and use dance to connect communities, making real change through movement.
Hip Hop arts: You immerse yourself in the culture and artistry of Hip Hop. You train in dance, music, visual art and spoken word, and collaborate with leading artists and scholars. This focus area prepares you to create, perform and share your work with audiences while honoring Hip Hop's roots and future.

When you pursue concurrent degrees (also known as a “double major”), you earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. Working with your academic advisor, you can create your own concurrent degree combination. Some combinations are not possible due to high levels of overlap in curriculum.

Whether in a foreign country, in the U.S. or online, students build communication skills, learn to adapt and persevere, and are exposed to research and internships around the world, increasing their professional network.

Frequently asked questions about degree programs
Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.
Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.
Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.
