In the stackable undergraduate certificate program in project management essentials, you develop the skills to lead successful projects. This program covers key areas of project management, including project leadership, strategy, sustainability and organizational behavior. If you are looking to enhance your project management expertise and drive positive change in any industry, the program is an ideal fit.
This program can be completed as a standalone certificate or alongside a degree program, or it can stack into a future bachelor's degree.

This certificate is available to current ASU students and to students not currently enrolled at ASU in a degree program.
To pursue this certificate, non-ASU students must apply to the university and meet university admission requirements. Students not currently attending ASU who wish to pursue the certificate should contact an academic advisor in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at CISAadvising@asu.edu for admission procedures.

Program learning outcomes identify what a student will learn or be able to do upon completion of their program. This program’s learning outcomes include the following:
- Produce project progression documents based on case study assignments.
- Apply leadership theory to project situations presented in course materials.
Experience studying and interning abroad can be one of the most valuable tools for project management students. Studying in one of more than 300 available Global Education programs provides students the opportunity to develop a valuable intercultural communication skill set that can give them an advantage in the workforce.
This certificate opens doors to a wide variety of entry-level career opportunities. Graduates can pursue roles such as project coordinator, project assistant, junior project manager and project scheduler. These positions offer the chance to support senior project managers, manage project schedules, assist with administrative tasks, and help ensure the smooth execution of projects.
ASU programs that may lead to professional licensure or certification are intended to prepare students for potential licensure or certification in Arizona. Completion of an ASU program may not meet educational requirements for licensure or certification in another state. For more information, students should visit the ASU professional licensure webpage.
The Project Management Institute has two options for certification:
- The Certified Associate Project Manager credential requires 23 hours of project management education and a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or the global equivalent) for students to test.
- The Project Management Professional credential requires either a four-year degree and 36 months of experience leading projects within the last eight years or a secondary education diploma (high school diploma, associate degree or the global equivalent) with 60 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years. In addition, students must have 35 hours of project management training to sit for the PMP designation test.

Program term definitions
Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.
Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.
Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.
