Minor description

Stress Management, Mindfulness and Resilience minor description

The minor program in stress management, mindfulness and resilience introduces you to integrative health approaches addressing the physiology and psychology of stress. Through evidence-based and experiential learning, you develop mindfulness and self-regulation skills that enhance well-being and support success in academic and professional settings.

Why earn a stress management, mindfulness and resilience minor at ASU?

This minor integrates stress science, mindfulness and resilience into a single, coherent curriculum rather than treating them as separate topics or elective courses. You learn how these three areas connect and reinforce one another, giving you a complete framework for understanding and managing stress.

The minor is housed in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, grounding the content in public service, social work and community well-being. That means you explore mindfulness and resilience through the lens of people-focused professions such as social work, education, health, human resources and community services.

ASU designed this minor to complement many majors, allowing you to add well-being and resilience skills to your professional toolbox no matter what field you plan to enter. You focus on practical, applicable techniques you can use in your own life and in any profession that involves working with people.

Additional details

You can connect with peers and explore professional development opportunities through the Social Work Student Organization on the Downtown Phoenix campus. The organization offers a space to engage with others interested in social work, community well-being and the helping professions.

Frequently asked questions about degree programs

Accelerated programs allow students the opportunity to expedite the completion of their degree.

Accelerated master's

These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).

Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master's during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program. Interested students can learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.

Concurrent degrees allow students to pursue their own personal or professional interests, earn two distinct degrees and receive two diplomas. To add a concurrent degree to your existing degree, work with your academic advisor.

Joint programs, or jointly conferred degrees, are offered by more than one college and provide opportunities for students to take advantage of the academic strengths of two academic units. Upon graduation, students are awarded one degree and one diploma conferred by two colleges.

ASU adds new programs to Degree Search frequently. Come back often and look for the "New Programs" option.

ASU Online offers programs in an entirely online format with multiple enrollment sessions throughout the year. See https://asuonline.asu.edu/ for more information.
